Details level 1

TID has set up a 6-day training session. This training is based on the TID capacity building programme for cutter operators.

 Aim/Target group:

This course aims at training for dredge operators with little experience in dredging. During the course the participants learn how to operate the dredger in an efficient and safe way and the basic theoretical background of the dredging processes. As a consequence production will increase and risk and costs will reduce.

 Blended Learning & Simulator Training:

The programme consists of a series of parallel sessions of simulator training on one hand side and lectures and workshops on the other.

After attending this level the participants are able to:

  • Recognize and name the major parts, components and systems of a cutter suction dredger and their functions.
  • Demonstrate the basic operational procedures like swinging, advancing etc.
  • Explain site constraints and soil characteristics in relation to the dredging process and a dredging project.
  • Explain the interrelationship between pipeline resistance, engine characteristics and hydraulic transport of the soil.

All these subjects will be trained in a mixed form of simulator exercises, workshops and training video. Acquired knowledge will be practiced on the simulator and is related to daily operation.

During the simulator training the trainees will be able to deal with a variety of simulated dredging conditions and so the trainees’ daily operating skills will increase.

Intensive Training:

A parallel programme has been set up to ensure maximum attention and maximum simulator time for each participant. With this very intensive programme all participants get thorough practical instruction on the simulator and interactive instruction during classroom training and workshops.

Simulator:

The main part of the training will take place by the use of a new generation extremely realistic cutter simulator. This simulator gives the possibility to train participants under specific conditions and enables trainers to give feedback on specific results and effects. Hazardous situations can be experienced without danger, risk or loss of production.
