TID signs contract with CCCC Guangzhou Dredging Co for tailor made simulator training and compentence based training programme 20-10-11

The Training Institute for Dredging (TID) is pleased to announce that last month it has signed a contract with CCCC Guangzhou Dredging Co., Ltd. (GDC) for a dedicated training project to improve the skills and knowledge of the operational crew of their fleet of 7025MP and 8527MP cutter suction dredgers. This contract is a continuation of the cooperation between GDC and TID to further optimize the dredging competences of their operational crew.

The training will be a combination of tailor made simulator training on the IHC 7025 MP simulator and the IHC 8527 simulator and a three month competence based training programme. The training will take place at the IHC premises in Tianjin.

The training level is tailored to the client’s needs and wishes and teaches the participants the basic skills and knowledge to operate a cutter suction dredger in normal operating conditions. Background knowledge about the dredging processes and equipment is provided to better understand the operation of a cutter suction dredger of this size.

In the first part of the simulator training the participants will be made familiar with the controls and automation of the dredger and taught how to use them in the correct way (“doing things right”). In the second part of this training they will learn how to dredge in more difficult situations and attention is paid to dredge in a more cost efficient way (“doing things well”).

The competence based training programme is especially developed for the client as part of the results of an earlier performed extensive competence scan of the cutter suction dredger operatonal crew. This programme focuses on the improvement of the dredging competences, which are currently underperformed, with the goal to enhance the efficiency of both the 7025 and 8527 cutter suction dredgers and to optimize the effectiveness of the operator.
