One of the training possibilities we offer for cutter operators is a Computer training.

In association with DEME (a big Belgian dredging contractor), TID has developed an Interactive Training Module for cutter operators. This training combines practical instructions on cutter operations with an introduction to the theoretical backgrounds of dredging.

The training module is specifically developed for operating personnel who have a basic technical background but lack specific knowledge of dredging. The training module is available on CD-ROM and cutter suction dredger operators can train themselves by using nothing more than a PC or laptop.

The operator is lectured step by step and has the possibility to return to previous parts or speed up to next parts as he pleases. The course is lectured by a voice over; real video pictures and animations are used to further explain spoken texts.

At this moment the computer training is available with a Dutch and English voice over. A translation of the spoken text is already available in Spanish, more languages will follow.

Simulator training: Hopper simulator
Together with Jan de Nul (a big Belgian dredging contractor) IHC-Systems has developed a simulator of a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger. TID provides training on this simulator. The simulator enables a trainee to simulate the complete dredging operation of a trailing suction hopper dredger.

Simulator training: Cutter simulator
Further, TID and IHC-Systems are developing a web-based simulator tool for cutter suction dredgers. This enables a trainee to do the simulation of the operation of a cutter suction dredger on his/her own computer.
